Contrary to popular belief, the original “M” didn’t start as a logo – it began with a small hot dog stand. In 1950, the “M“ brothers wanted their fast-food restaurant to catch the eye of passing drivers, so they installed shimmering, golden arches on either side of the building. The idea came from architect Stanley Clark Meston, who was convinced that these illuminated arches would be impossible to miss at night. Then, on April 15, 1955, the very first ”M“ restaurant opened in Chicago, Illinois, marking the start of the golden legacy.
